After the seminar is before the seminar

The year is drawing to a close. A few days ago I was able to take a brief look at the new print edition of WingTsunWorld. Naturally this has another report on the superb grand anniversary seminar with which we celebrated 40 years of the EWTO together this year. At the same time the year-end means that we take a look ahead – to future events such as the next International Seminar.

It is already decided that we will be holding this in Hockenheim next year. Indeed Hockenheim feels a little like a home from home for us, as we have already been guests there many times in the past. The date has also been decided: the 2017 EWTO Leadership Congress will take place there on Friday, 2nd June. A meeting of EWTO national instructors is planned for the evening. Our grand International Seminar will take place over Whitsun 2017, from Saturday 3rd June to Monday 5th June at "Hockenheimer Stadthalle".

More precise information about the events and necessary registration procedure will be sent to you in January.

The next International Seminar will take the same form as in previous years, however this also requires planning. What training classes should we provide? What specialist teachers should we invite? Questions like this need to be answered in good time, because this is the basis on which e.g. the timetable, room allocation etc. are planned.

Our grandmasters will of course be first and foremost among the teachers, covering numerous topics. Inner WingTsun will naturally be taught by Grandmaster Keith R. Kernspecht. Classic and modern WingTsun at various grade levels will be covered by Grandmasters Schembri, König and Schrön with assistants. Escrima with Grandmaster Bill Newman and his team, ChiKung with the ChiKung team and BlitzFight with Grandmasters König and Schrön will also be offered. There will no doubt also be guest instructors.

As in every year, there will be an opportunity to take grading examinations at the International Seminar. These should be requested when registering.

An innovation was introduced for this year's anniversary seminar, namely electronic registration, and it proved very successful. It will therefore be retained. Registration will once again be possible via the homepage, and this time directly, without any advance booking. All the necessary steps including transfer of the seminar fees can be completed there. The relevant webpage for this will go online at the beginning of the year. More detailed information will be made known nearer the event. This is worth looking out for, as every year those registering in good time are rewarded with an early booking discount.

And following all this "technical" information, here is some good news for those who like partying: there will also be an evening event next year! The planning for this is already fully under way. After all, show stars are busy people and need to be contacted and booked at an early stage. The details are still secret, but look forward to some surprises!

To make sure that everything goes well and we can come together for a well-organised International Seminar, it's now time for me to rejoin our EWTO colleagues in the organising team to continue the planning process with them.
I wish you all a pleasant run-up during the advent period, with best wishes for a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Your
DaiSifu Andreas Gross
